Company History

Since opening our doors in 1966, Countryside Wood Products has been a custom wood product producer in the Lake Elmo, Minnesota area serving the twin cities and beyond. The company finds its beginning with Walt Pechan and Jack Bichner in the original Countryside Wood Products shop located off Highway 36 and Lake Elmo Avenue in Lake Elmo, Minnesota. The shop now converted to local restraunt was a smaller facility where the two man operation offered three types of wood for the custom cabinets they built. As with quality products, business continued to grow with more help and a larger shop being needed. Walt having taken over the company move the shop a block down the road to a larger facility and hired more staff. Over the year and at different points in time this staff included all 5 of Walt’s Children; Russ, Linda, Bob, Kathy, and Kristen. The company expanding from offering its original 3 types of wood to today only being limited by what is available from our mills currently find ourselves located in our current facility off of Highway 14(old Hwy 5). Walt having retired and with some of his children taking new opportunities sold the business to a new family where they continue to work with old customers and new alike while still maintaining  the shops tradition of being a one stop shop for all a persons custom wood products needs.
